Lough Gur Historical Society

The historical society was formed on St. Patrick’s Day, 1984 when a group of interested people gathered at the Stone Circle in Grange. 25 years later the group is still vibrant and strong with over 80 members and a number of key objectives such as:

  • to gather and recording historical information
  • arranging lectures and field trips
  • publication of historical journals

hist2The 22nd historical journal was launched in April 2016 and copies of which are available for €10 from the Lough Gur Heritage Centre or by calling 061 385186

The Society has visited all important historical and archaeological sites in Ireland and trips abroad have taken us to Stonehenge, the lake district, Brittany and to celebrate 25 years in existence the Society travelled to Rome.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Lough Gur Historical Society contact Joan Dempsey on 061 385186.
