Cruinniú na Cásca April 17th


Limerick City and County Council is delighted to present Walking Limerick – Luimneach ag Siúl a programme of free guided walking tours to take place this Easter Monday as part of Creative Ireland initiative Cruinniú na Cásca – a new day to get together and celebrate us.

In this time of reflection and renewal Limerick City and County Council invites all our citizens and visitors to explore the history and the landscape of our city and county through an act of collective walking.

Guided Walking Tour of Lough Gur

Enjoy the natural beauty of Lough Gur on April 17th as you are guided along some gentle hillsides and shoreline paths, while listening to many centuries of facts, fairy tales and fantasies associated with this magical area. Áine Barry, Lough Gur Heritage Centre trained guide, will take you on a historical and magical journey around Lough Gur, visiting the Neolithic sites, including the Grange Stone Circle , Giants Grave (Megalithic Wedge Tomb), Carraig Aille (Ring Forts) and the lake front, giving information on Bouchiers Castle, Bolin Island (Cranóg). Áine will also weave in tales of the associated folklore of Lough Gur.

Duration: 2.5 hours

To make the best of your walk come prepared with fluids, snacks, waterproof clothing and sensible footwear.
