Lough Gur offers each school an insight into Ireland’s past. Lough Gur is a unique site in that it has visible remains and evidence from every age beginning with Neolithic and including modern times. Home to Ireland’s largest stone circle and finest stone forts, Lough Gur is a living landscape. 

Your school will be greeted by a professional guide who will lead your students around the Lough Gur area to view the archaeological and historic megaliths. Lough Gur also has a wealth of folklore and reputedly has the Munster entrance to Tír Na Nóg!  

Facilities include:

  • Exhibition with artefact display, interactive touch screens, dig models, dressing up corner and listening posts

  • Coach and car parking

  • Coffee dock

  • Picnic areas

  • Toilets at car park

  • Walking trails around the lake and hills taking in archaelogical and historical sites
