People travel from all corners of the globe to experience the sunrise at the Great Grange Stone Circle on June 21st. Sunrise for 2016 is due at 4.57am. Bring warm clothing and an open mind!
The Lough Gur Summer Solstice Festival takes place this year from June 18th to June 21st.
The events are as follows:
Saturday June 18th – Fun Run departing from the Honey Fitz Theatre at 11am. Tickets are €10.00. This event is being organised by An Brú AC running club.
Sunday 19th – Summer Solstice Workshop with Gemma and Bobby at the Lough Gur Heritage Centre. At this workshop children will create images of the sun in paper craft along with mobiles that would be displayed in the centre for solstice week. Time to be confirmed. Tickets €5.
Monday June 20th – Documentary premier commissioned by RTE about Lough Gur at 8pm in the Honey Fitz Theatre. Admission Free.
Tuesday June 21st – Long walk on a long day. Follow in the footsteps of our great ancestors and see parts of Lough Gur that are not accessible to the public at any other time of year. Departing from the lake front at 7pm. Tickets €5.00.
(Please note that the family day by the lake will not take place in 2016)
