2021 Covid 19 Santa Guidelines
To keep everyone safe and to avoid any disappointment there are a few guidelines that we want all visitors to be made aware of prior to their visit.
Upon arrival at Lough Gur, guests must register at the Lough Gur Lakeshore Park Kiosk located at the entrance to the lakefront. Here those with pre-booked Lough Gur Santa Visit tickets can avail of one complimentary coffee / tea and mince pie for the adults OR hot chocolate and mince pies for children. Any additional choice of beverages can be purchased. Once Santa is ready for you his special guests, you will be asked to make your way towards Lough Gur Visitor Centre on the hillside overlooking the lake of Lough Gur just a few short meters from the Kiosk. Please note that it will not be possible to gather in the Visitor Centre before your allocated visit time. As there is no waiting facility on time guest will be asked to remain in their cars or weather permitting it will be an opportunity to take a walk along the lakefront.
On entry all guests will be asked to keep their masks on and sanitise their hands before entering at the sanitiser station outside the front door of the Visitor Centre. Staff members will be at the door to greet you and guide you to Santa. Although national guidelines on mask wearing and sanitising may have changed by the time you visit with us, these are the necessary steps we have to put in place to protect Santa and your family. Lough Gur Development reserve the right to refuse admission to guests who refuse to follow the health and safety measures.
What to Expect on Your Visit?
Santa will greet children behind a screen decked out in his most luxurious handmade outfit, worn only on special occasions. Lough Gur are keen to ensure the safety of all visitors therefore Santa’s visiting area will be sanitised after every family visit, Masks must be worn by all adults. Before entering the grotto at the Visitor Centre all visitors will be asked to sanitise their hands thoroughly. As Santa will be positioned behind a Perspex screen the beard pulling test to be sure he is real will not be permitted. Rest assured it is real. All guests are prohibited from going behind the Perspex screen to keep everyone safe.
Mrs Claus has decided to remain in the North Pole this year caring for all the hard working Elves, she will be back again next year.
Free access to the Lough Gur Solstice playground is encouraged after a visit with Santa where you can enjoy the spectacular views and relax for the remainder of your time at Lough Gur.
If you do want a stress free, traditional Santa visit then this is the option for you. All proceeds go to Lough Gur Development. A non profit community organisation working to preserve and protect the area of Lough Gur. All children must be supervised at all times.

“Best Santa visit we’ve had! Lough Gur was so refreshing. Away from the hustle and bustle and just quality family time in beautiful surroundings. Santa was exceptional, spending as much time with the kids as they wanted. The scenery is a photographers dream, i could have sat in the sleigh and looked out at the lake and mountains all day. After Santa, we took the 100 steps to visit the fairies and take in the views of the surrounding area. We had been advised to count the fairies and report back to make sure they were all there, a task my five year old was more than willing to accept. Can’t wait to return in the spring, packing a picnic and spending longer in the area. Thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to discover a new hidden gem.”
” Brilliant experience again. Mrs Claus was amazing and Santa was fantastic. A great afternoon “
