On May 24th at 11am the online Lough Gur tours were officially launched by Minister of State for the OPW, Patrick O’ Donovan. The tours launched include a 360 degree interactive tour of Lough Gur along with a 27 minute video tour with Lough Gur tour guides Tom Tierney, Siobhan Kirby, George Finch, Aine Barry and John Carew. After the official launch Ken Moore, Head of Property from the OPW, Noreen Finnegan from the Heritage Services and Heritage Attractions for the OPW, Rose Cleary, Author of “The Archaeology of Lough Gur, Kate Harrold, Manager for Lough Gur and Sarah McCutcheon, Limerick City and County Council Archaeologist visited the sites to highlight to the Office of Public Works the excellent work they were already doing in taking care of monuments in Lough Gur and potential to look at additional sites that would benefit from their expertise. The launch on May 24th not only marked the launch of the Lough Gur tours but also marked the beginning of deeper relationships between Lough Gur and the OPW.
